The ongoing works of Christian Vidaurrazaga (VectoMex-VectorMexicano).
HISTORY: My name is Christian Vidaurrazaga I started designing back in 2002 when the Apple Computer was introduced to me, after that it was love at first site.“I hated computers, I wanted to be a muralist like “Diego Rivera or Jesus Helguera”, it only took a couple of years and lot’s of hours of practice to develop a style that has changed “and is still changing” the Diseño Mexicano or Graphic Design. My art has evolved from simple pencil sketches to a mixture of wild paintings mixed with pixel/vector design.
Pre-Columbian Art, Mexican Muralist, Mexican Actors, Singers, Models, Icons, Heroes, Villains, Idols, Folk Tales and History is the base of my work. Mixed with great natural/iconic elements the art pieces turn out to be something really appealing to look at, a piece of history put in every design.
LAYOUT: I have a lot of fun when it comes to creating a layout. It’s amazing how so many elements can be put together and create a single piece with a huge message. Creating a layout has to do a lot with shooting straight to the point whether you are creating an ad, poster or flyer “Hey Look. We Are Here And We Do This” but in a way that it’s catchy and it’s appealing to the eye.
APPAREL: Fashion is very important to me, I find something unique about creating a piece and then transferring it into a piece of garment. It comes to live and not only that you can wear it too. I own a clothing company and understand what people like and would like to see. The creation process is something I enjoy, the garment has to be able to communicate with the buyer, like “Oh I understand what that shirt is talking about or picturing”. Most importantly be up on latest fashion trends if not that then set your own trends.
IDENTITY: Branding your company is very important, when people see your logo the image has to be iconic that way when they see it again they’ll remember your name, and in this competitive world this is a step ahead of the competition. This little piece of art represents your identity, your name, your image. Simple but effective.
CONCEPT CREATION: Setting trends, creating new products or aiding projects to manifest it’s original concept. I like to create and that’s the bottom line, sitting down and writing down concepts, how they look, how they make you feel, where it’s going to be sold and how. I have journals with ideas that need to come to life. Some projects need that spice so it could live amongst and over the others.
FINE ARTS: This is where the Vectomex motto started. Own one of our Vectomex pieces and you’ll understand when you see it while hanging on your wall. Acrylics, Pen and Pencil, Charcoal, Color Pencil, Stencil you name it, I play with all the mediums.
